Digital video camera reviews:We love digital video cameras. They are a great tool for making awesome looking video, whether you are taking video of your kids as they grow up or you are shooting a feature film (more on that later).
Why is digital such a good way to go with your video? Well the quality is great for one, you can make some outstanding video with a basic consumer DV camera that you couldn't get with a broadcast quality camera costing $50K ten years ago or even less. You can retain that quality all the way through the editing process now with Firewire, and digital non linear editing on your computer. When you export the video from your camera into the computer everything stays digital in the transfer and thus no loss of quality. DV tapes do not have drop outs on them (annoying electronic versions of dust on the film), are nice and small so they are easy to carry around,(however labeling them is more of a challenge to those of us with big hands..) and they can record up to 60 minutes per tape. I know that is not as as much as the 2 hours on the old VHS cameras but shuttling through two hours of tape never was an easy task. There are lots of great choices on the market.
