Built-in Digital TV
By plugging in the miniature digital antenna and then connecting the TV to the QMedia Center, its instant media player program, you can watch digital TV broadcasting anywhere with the built-in digital TV (DVB-T) module. The instant recording functions allows easy searching of TV programs, while the exclusive time-shift settings enables you to save programs to a temporary location where they can be replayed.

SRS TruSurround Technology
The BenQ Joybook P52 comes outfitted with embedded SRS TruSurround Technology, a 360 degree surround audio which provides amazingly realistic and powerful stereo sound effects whether you're watching a movie or playing 3D games. In addition, SRS TruBass Technology amplifies the lower frequencies in the sound, delivering superior audio performance.

July 26, 2006 10:34 - Cable TV system pioneers digital image and video sharing on local TV

Oceanic pioneers TV posting of photos, video

Oceanic Time Warner Cable has become the first cable company in the nation to offer customers the means to post their digital photos and video on local TV.

PhotoShow TV on Demand, launched Monday, is on Oceanic digital channel 917. It has categories such as Art, Events & Weddings, Family, Humor, Nature, News & Entertainment, Odd & Outrageous, Pets & Animals, Sports, and Travel & Places.

Cable subscribers can access any PhotoShow by using their remote controls to toggle through the different categories and select specific slide shows. Individual slide shows are available for a limited time before the content is refreshed with new submissions. All slide shows are screened for appropriate content prior to being loaded into the On Demand system.

"Oceanic continues to lead the nation in innovative technology and consumer programming," said President Nate Smith. "We've made history yet again with the launch of PhotoShow TV."

July 27, 2006 11:13 - Getting your old video tapes into digital video format - great article

I found this article today on how to transfer all those old VHS tapes you have laying around into digital video that can be archived safely. It goes through the gear and the steps. Check it out.

Hands on: Transfer analogue video to digital
How to capture and archive analogue video so your VHS memories stay intact

If you’re old enough to vote, there’s a good chance that you have some analogue video footage lying about. Whether it’s years of family holidays still on 8mm cassettes or the first series of The Sopranos on VHS, one day you won’t be able to watch it any more.

In the not-too-distant future the only place you will be able to find a VHS VCR is in a museum, where the staff are not likely to be receptive to the idea of you turning up with your mates and a recording of the 1994 FA Cup final.

To ensure you can continue to watch your archived analogue material you should be thinking about digitising it and storing it in a format that’s going to be around for some time to come which, for most of us right now, means DVD.

So what are the options? Whatever format your analogue material is in, the steps involved in digitising it are, for the most part, the same. You need to connect the analogue player, be it a camcorder, VCR or whatever to your PC.

Capture hardware
Unless you already have some means of connecting an analogue video player to your PC, you’ll need to buy an analogue capture device.

Analogue TV cards often have a composite and/or S-video input port so, if you have one, it’s worth checking to see what input options it provides. Note that standard 3D graphics cards often have an S-video port, but it’s usually output-only for connecting to a TV set.

July 28, 2006 10:34 - Portable and waterproof digital camera goes with you for action sports

I found this new camera you should check out. It is call the Digital Hero Camerasports wrist camera. It attaches to your wrist and is water proof. You can take it with you wherever you go to take shots of your favorite action sports activities.

It features a wrist band [think wristwatch] that allows you to swivel the camera into position and snap away your images. This company has made a film version of this camera for awhile but they now have this new digital one now.

Check out the videos shot with the camera or the images gallery.

They advertize it as water proof to 30' so you can surf, snorkle, canoe, kayak, swim, or whatever your water sports might be with this camera [except of course deep diving].

It is listed at $79 so it is an affordable digital solution to getting fun shots where you are playing.
